Rosie May - The Rooks
I recently received a bit of attention for this song of mine, it was played on BBC 6 Music a week ago and then again on BBC Introducing this weekend. I released this in May this year as part of an EP called Roof Over Our Heads and sold the CDs and MP3s to raise money for a little church in my village. The EP was written with medieval and traditional folk influences and with the acoustics of a church in mind; The Rooks’ recording was made with natural reverb from the church I was raising money for!
The coolest thing that’s happened in relation to this song is that someone I didn’t know walked down the aisle to it. Is there a bigger compliment than that?
Please check out the rest of the EP if you enjoy what you hear. Expect footsteps, church bells, circus toys and an Indian harmonium…
